Not tons of sewing progress, but I did manage to get the border on this:
The gorgeous applique blocks are, alas, not my handy work. My fabulous quilting aunt gave them to me two or three at a time for various special occasions over several years, until I had them all. She did the hard part; the rest is up to me! I was stumped on the border for a long time, but I like what I ended up with. Now I just have to wait until I get around to quilting it one of these years...
We had our family reunion over the weekend, and the hands quilt we were working on at quilt camp is finished and was given to its owner:
I am really happy with the end product. Mom and Aunt M. did the vast majority of the applique and Aunt M. assembled and quilted - my contribution was a measly four applique blocks, and lots of strong design opinions! Since I "won" most of the design "discussions" maybe it's no wonder that I like the end product so much.

Those quilts are both lovely. I have no patience for applique, but I like how you've incorporated the peices in the flower quilt. The hand quilt is awesome! I like the colors.
This is like when I was all ready to complement your appliqued flamingos. Those applique flowers are excellent work! Kudos to your fabulous quilting aunt!
You did good framing them, too! : )
Hi, Libby--I linked to your blog from my friend Norma at silverthimble. You are living in my old stomping grounds! (From 69 to 97 before we moved to AL) I was just back for a 10 day visit with my family up in Lexington.
What wonderful quilts you are showing--a family effort on both. My mom and SIL quilt too and one sister would if she had anytime, LOL; some of the younger generation have also sewed with grandma. Good to see that the tradition will continue on.
How fun to have quilters in the family! Love those nine patches in the sashing of your flowers!
How nice to have received the blocks from your aunt, that is a special gift :)
I so love the idea of a family quilt, put together by different members of the family, be they sisters, daughters, mothers or aunts.
The hand quilt is terrific, and I love the way you've used the applique flowers from your aunt.
I love the flower quilt and I'm not a huge applique fan. Great job!
Beautiful quilts. I love the border on the top one.
I just found your blog through my friend Amanda's (Crazy Mom Quilts) blog. I love your quilts! All the vivid colors are awesoome! I am originally from central Illinois, too. I grew up in Peoria.
I love the way you put the applique blocks together - what colors! Your aunt is a jewel for making the flowers for you.
