Happy Heart Quilt
Now I return you to the previous appliqued heart quilt, recently quilted and bound. I didn't specifically plan this to be a Valentine's quilt, but when I started hand quilting it in December I realized that I would probably finish it around this time. Now I realize that it probably is a Valentine's quilt - maybe that should have been obvious? Valentine's Day is perhaps a controversial holiday at times, but personally I love it. Maybe to me it is more of a celebration of the heart motif and the colors red and pink, all of which I love. If you doubt that statement, this quilt should be proof enough. I definitely love these things year round, but I'm perfectly satisfied to have a chance to celebrate them now and then.
This quilt will always remind me of my semester in Mexico when much of this handwork was done. My host mother really loved the project; I wish she could see it now.
I will probably not be able to get nice natural light pictures of this until Saturday, and I didn't want to wait that long to share it. These will have to do for now.

That's cute!
If there is ever a universal symbol that everyone understands, it's the heart! I love this quilt too!
Your quilt is beautiful--yellow and red is my new favorite color combination.
What a great quilt! I love the colors and all the hearts.
So nice! The yellow sets it off perfectly. Can you send a hard-copy photo to your host mother?
oh wow i love this heart quilt. i love the way the heart go from light to dark across the quilt. it looks fantastic, very beautifully-executed. i like your blog. it looks like you are constantly churning out work, that inspires me. i like the quilt a few posts previous with the bright colored squares with white sashing and a dark blue border. thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting!
as for your question about naming quilts, i didn't used to but now i do because i can easily refer to it and i can separate them in my head, not "the baby quilt for jen" and "the quilt for Sophia" but "Into the Garden" and "Pink Lemonade" because the names quickly conjure memories of the quilt, colors, design, etc.
You're so good at these applique hearts! It's a gorgeous quilt! I loev how you placed the hearts going from light to dark colored. So pretty!!
