My Day in Quilting

Bleh.

1. Time to put binding on the t-shirt quilt. Final join, I've done this many times, right????? One line was drawn at the wrong angle or something so....

fubinding

I call it fubinding.

2. Can't find the seam ripper. OK so the binding issue will have to wait...

3. I have three pieces of flannel that I'm seaming to be the back for a top that I'm going to finish into a simple coverlet. I do the seaming and lay it out on the floor to pin to the top - wouldn't you know that one of the seams is about as unflat as it could be because I bought the wrong amount of flannel (or cut it wrong...still trying to figure that one out.) OK I think I may have a l'il piece of another flannel I can use to make up for the lacking length but...

4. Still can't find the seam ripper. So that'll have to wait, too. I think I've done enough sewing for one day.

Binding is my nemisis. I do it by machine and it always looks a bit half-a$$ed. Oh, and I kept misplacing my seam ripper and then finally decided that since they only cost like $2 I should just go buy another one to have on hand.

"fubinding" = Ha! Ha!

Everybody has bad days, Quilty. Get back on that quilt.... : )

I'll tell you the same thing I told rebel -- I <3 the tiny little Fiskars "microserated" scissors. Its point is so fine that it works better (for me) for seamripping than a seamripper does. And its harder to lose -- bright orange.

Anyway.

Some days are like that, even in Australia. (If you ever read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day when you were a kid, you know what I mean.)

Hope your day gets better. Good luck with the move -- in town or elsewhere? Keep us posted!

Love the log cabin!

LOL -- I'm laughing alot about this one. Not because it's all that funny, but, well, I've done it. And recently on the binding (bias that turned out being not bias, eeek!).

Hang in there -- I think I have three seam rippers right now -- but I'm going to buy a new one soon!

Try again tomorrow Libby ! Some days you wonder why you bothered at all. I hate seam rippers and usually wiggle out the stitches with a pin or small sharp scissors.

I swear, I seam the binding ends together backwards every time.
